To the landscape lighting designers across the country, most of their concern is whether or not to go to a business mode that is all LED driven. This means that all outdoor lighting installations will be completed with either LED fixtures, which are fixtures that are one complete unit (a fixture where the LED is built into the fixture and the fixture is one piece).

The LED driver and reflectors are all part of one unit, so if it goes bad, the whole unit comes out and gets replaced. Or they can be done with regular, commercial grade, outdoor lighting fixtures fitted with LED bulbs. So if the bulb goes bad, it is replaced like a regular halogen lamp. The dilemma with this is finding quality LED bulbs that you feel safe using in your client’s project.

I recently ordered some LED lamps from Illumicare Group Limited and I have to say that so far I am very impressed with the quality of the lamp as well as the color rendition on each lamp. I ordered one of the test kits that they have currently on sale, so it enabled me to order 3 different MR16 bulbs and 2 other smaller sizes of bulbs commonly used on path fixtures or a wash fixture.

I liked the packaging and how each box and bulb was labeled, and how each bulb was wrapped nicely in bubble wrap and the smaller bulbs were packaged in a sealed individual bag. I have each one of the five bulbs running in my yard right now, testing them to see how they work under different conditions. I like the MR16 bulbs, but I love the Bi-Pin and the SCB warm white bulbs. I think I will be using these with all of my path lights from here on out. The bulb boasts a 35,000 hour lamp life, so that is fantastic! Running 6 hours a night, these lamps should last just north of 15 years, with proper maintenance on your lighting system, of course. Halogen, Xenogeny, and whatever else a bi-pin 12 volt lamp is offering today is nowhere near the quality of these.
